Technical Description

A vulnerability has been identified in Sun Solaris, which could be exploited by malicious users to cause a denial of service. This issue is caused by an error in PostgreSQL. For additional information, see : VUPEN/ADV-2009-0767

Solution

Sun Solaris 10 (SPARC) - Apply patch 123590-10 or later for PostgreSQL 8.1
Sun OpenSolaris (SPARC) - Upgrade to build snv_111a or later

Sun Solaris 10 (x86) - Apply patch 123591-10 or later for PostgreSQL 8.1
Sun OpenSolaris (x86) - Upgrade to build snv_111a or later

Note: PostgreSQL 8.1 was removed from OpenSolaris snv_110 onwards.

A final resolution is pending completion for PostgreSQL 8.2 and PostgreSQL 8.3 for Solaris 10.
