A security weakness has been identified in Memcached, which could be exploited by attackers to gain knowledge of sensitive information and bypass security restrictions. This issue is caused due to the application not requiring authentication before allowing a user to issue a "stats maps" command (port 11211/TCP), which could be exploited by attackers to disclose the contents of "/proc/self/maps" and gain knowledge of stack, heap and shared library memory locations.
