Technical Description
Two vulnerabilities have been identified in DevIL, which could be exploited by attackers to cause a denial of service or take complete control of an affected system. These issues are caused by buffer overflow errors in the "iGetHdrHeader()" [src-IL/src/il_hdr.c] function when processing specially crafted Radiance RGBE files, which could be exploited by attackers to crash an affected application or execute arbitrary code by tricking a user into opening a malicious file.
