Technical Description

A vulnerability has been identified in IBM Hardware Management Console (HMC), which could be exploited by attackers to cause a denial of service. This issue is caused by an error in the RMC daemon when packets processing an invalid client packet length, which could be exploited to terminate a vulnerable daemon, creating a denial of service condition.

IBM Hardware Management Console (HMC) versions prior to 7 Release 3.2.0 Service Pack 1

Solution

Upgrade to IBM Hardware Management Console (HMC) version 7 Release 3.3.0 SP2, or version 7 Release 3.2.0 SP1.
