A weakness has been identified in Debian, which could be exploited by attackers to bypass security restrictions. This issue is caused by an error in the opensc library that does not properly validate access rights when initialising smart cards with the Siemens CardOS M4 card operating system, which could be exploited by a malicious user to change the PIN code without having the actual PIN or PUK or the superusers PIN or PUK.
