>> EMC Retrospect Denial of Service and Information Disclosure Issues
|
Multiple vulnerabilities have been identified in EMC Dantz Retrospect Backup, which could be exploited by remote attackers to gain knowledge of sensitive information or cause a denial of service.
The first issue is caused by an error when processing specially crafted packets sent to port 497/TCP, which could be exploited by attackers to cause the "retroclient.exe" process to terminate, creating a denial of service condition.
The second vulnerability is caused due to the EMC Dantz Retrospect backup Client including the password hash in plaintext in certain responses, which could be combined to the weak password hash arithmetic used by the authentication module of EMC Dantz Retrospect backup Server to brute-force the password and gain control of a client machine.
The third issue is caused by a NULL pointer dereference error when processing malformed packets sent to port 497/TCP, which could be exploited by attackers to cause a denial of service.
