A vulnerability has been identified in Net-SNMP, which could be exploited by attackers to bypass security restrictions. This issue is caused by an error in the implementation of SNMPv3 that does not proprly validate user-supplied packets, which may allow a shortened HMAC code in the authenticator field to authenticate to an agent or a trap daemon using a valid username and a minimum HMAC of 1 byte.
