Rated as : High Risk
Remotely Exploitable : Yes Locally Exploitable : Yes Release Date : 2008-05-13
|
A vulnerability has been identified in Gentoo, which could be exploited by attackers to bypass security restrictions. This issue is caused by an error in the default configuration for Gentoo's init script ("/etc/conf.d/firebird") that sets the "ISC_PASSWORD" environment variable when starting Firebird, which could allow a remote attacker to authenticate as the "SYSDBA" user without providing the credentials, resulting in complete disclosure of all databases except for the user and password database (security2.fdb).
Affected Products
dev-db/firebird versions prior to 2.0.3.12981.0-r6
Solution
Upgrade the affected package :
# emerge --sync
# emerge --ask --oneshot --verbose " >=dev-db/firebird-2.0.3.12981.0-r6"
