>> Sun Solaris Code Execution and Denial of Service Vulnerabilities
|
Two vulnerabilities have been identified in Sun Solaris, which could be exploited by attackers to cause a denial of service or compromise a vulnerable system.
The first issue is caused by an error in the "rpc.metad" daemon when processing malformed requests, which could be exploited by attackers to crash an affected daemon, creating a denial of service condition.
The second vulnerability is caused by an input validation error in "rpc.ypupdated" (if started with the "-i" option) when handling map names, which could be exploited by remote attackers to inject and execute arbitrary codmmands with "root" privileges.
