A vulnerability has been identified in PCRE, which could be exploited by attackers to cause a denial of service or execute arbitrry code. This issue is caused by a buffer overflow error when handling a character class containing a very large number of characters with codepoints greater than 255 (UTF-8 mode), which could be exploited by attackes to crash an affected application or compromise a vulnerable system.
