A vulnerability has been identified in Microsoft Windows Vista, which could be exploited by remote attackers to cause a denial of service. This issue is caused by an error in the TCP/IP stack when processing specially crafted packets received from DHCP servers, which could be exploited by attackers to remotely cause an affected system to stop responding and automatically restart, creating a denial of service condition.
Note: An attacker can only receive a DHCP request and respond with a specially crafted packet by using a specially crafted DHCP server within the same link or via a DHCP Relay Agent.
