Multiple vulnerabilities have been identified in Apple QuickTime, which could be exploited by remote attackers to disclose sensitive information or take complete control of an affected system. These issues are caused by memory corruption and buffer overflow errors when processing malformed Sorenson 3 video files, Macintosh Resource records in movie files, Image Descriptor (IDSC) atoms, or compressed PICT images, which could be exploited by remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by tricking a user into visiting a malicious web page.
Credits Vulnerabilities reported by Joe Schottman (Virginia Tech), Jun Mao (VeriSign iDefense Labs), Cody Pierce (TippingPoint DVLabs) and Chris Ries (Carnegie Mellon University Computing Services).
