A vulnerability has been identified in CUPS, which could be exploited by remote attackers to cause a denial of service or compromise a vulnerable system. This issue is caused by a signedness error within the "asn1_get_string()" [backend/snmp.c] function when processesing specially crafted SNMP responses, which could be exploited by remote attackers to crash a vulnerable application or execute arbitrary code.

Note : The SNMP backend is enabled by default in versions 1.2.x and is disabled by default in CUPS versions 1.3.x.
