Two vulnerabilities have been identified in Asterisk, which could be exploited by remote or local attackers to execute arbitrary code.
The first issue is caused by a buffer overflow error in the IMAP service when playing or forwarding a voice message while the combined content of the "astspooldir" option (set in "asterisk.conf"), the voicemail context, and the voicemail mailbox is overly long, which could be exploited by local attackers to gain elevated privileges.
The second vulnerability is caused by a buffer overflow error in the IMAP service when listening to a voicemail message (via a telephone) with an overly long (more than a 1024 characters) "Content-type" or "Content-description" header, which could be exploited by remote attackers to compromise a vulnerable system.
