A vulnerability has been identified in Ask Toolbar, which could be exploited by remote attackers to cause a denial of service or take complete control of an affected system. This issue is caused by a buffer overflow error in the "AskJeevesToolBar.SettingsPlugin.1" (askBar.dll) ActiveX control when processing a malformed "ShortFormat" property, which could be exploited by remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by tricking a user into visiting a specially crafted web page.

Solution
Set a kill bit for the CLSID {5A074B2B-F830-49de-A31B-5BB9D7F6B407}.
VUPEN Security is not aware of any vendor-supplied patch.
