A vulnerability has been identified in BlueCat Networks Proteus, which could be exploited by malicious users to cause a denial of service or take complete control of an affected appliance. This issue is caused by an input validation error in the TFTP service whitin the processing of file names, which could be exploited by an authenticated administrator to conduct directory traversal attacks and create or overwrite arbitrary files on the underlying appliance operating system with root privileges, leading to a system compromise.

Solution
Restrict access to the TFTP service.
VUPEN Security is not aware of any vendor-supplied patch.
