A vulnerability has been identified in MySQL, which could be exploited by attackers to cause a denial of service. This issue is caused by a NULL pointer dereference error in the "in_decimal::set()" [item_cmpfunc.cc] function when processing a specially crafted "IF" clause in SQL queries (e.g. SELECT), which could be exploited by attackers to crash an affected database server by supplying a specially crafted SQL request.
