A vulnerability has been identified in Symantec Enterprise Security Manager, which could be exploited by remote attackers to take complete control of an affected system. This issue is caused by an error in the ESM agent remote upgrade interface that accepts remote upgrade requests without requiring authentication, which could be exploited by an attacker with knowledge of the agent protocol to force a vulnerable application to deploy malicious code and execute arbitrary commands with administrative privileges.
