Rated as : Low Risk
Remotely Exploitable : No Locally Exploitable : Yes Release Date : 2007-03-28

A vulnerability has been identified in Linux Kernel, which could be exploited by malicious users to disclose sensitive information or cause a denial of service. This issue is due to an integer signedness error in the "do_dccp_getsockopt()" [net/dccp/proto.c] function that does not properly validate the "len" parameter before being passed as an argument to the "copy_to_user()" call, which could be exploited by local attackers to read arbitrary kernel memory portions or panic a vulnerable system, creating a denial of service condition.
Affected Products
Linux Kernel versions 2.6.x
Solution
VUPEN Security is not aware of any vendor-supplied patch.
