Technical Description
Two vulnerabilities have been identified in CA BrightStor ARCserve Backup, which could be exploited by remote attackers to cause a denial of service or take complete control of an affected system.
The first issue is due to a memory corruption error in the Tape Engine when processing certain RPC procedure arguments, which could be exploited by remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands.
The second vulnerability is due to the presence of a RPC function that when called, will disable the Tape Engine interface, which could be exploited by attackers to shut down the Tape Engine functionality.
