A vulnerability has been identified in Avahi, which could be exploited by remote attackers to cause a denial of service. This issue is due to an infinite loop in the "consume_labels()" [avahi-core/dns.c] function when processing specially crafted compressed DNS responses with a label pointing to itself, which could be exploited by attackers to exhaust all available memory resources, creating a denial of service condition.
