Title : phpMyAdmin "comment" Parameter Handling Cross Site Scripting Vulnerabilities VUPEN ID : VUPEN/ADV-2006-4572 CVE ID : CVE-2006-6942 - CVE-2006-6944
Rated as : Low Risk
Remotely Exploitable : Yes Locally Exploitable : Yes Release Date : 2006-11-17
Technical Description
Multiple vulnerabilities have been identified in phpMyAdmin, which may be exploited by attackers to execute arbitrary scripting code or bypass security restrictions.
The first issue is due to input validation errors in various scripts (e.g. "db_operations.php") that do not validate the "comment" parameter, which could be exploited by attackers to cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the user's browser in the security context of an affected Web site.
The second vulnerability is due to input validation errors when processing the "X-Forwarded-For", "X-Forwarded", "Forwarded-For", "Forwarded", "Via", "X-Coming-From", and "Coming-From" HTTP headers, which could be exploited by attackers to bypass IP address checks.
