Title : Linux Kernel "lease_init" and "setlease" Denial of Service and Slab Leak Issues VUPEN ID : VUPEN/ADV-2006-1767 CVE ID : CVE-2006-1859 - CVE-2006-1860
Rated as : Low Risk
Remotely Exploitable : No Locally Exploitable : Yes Release Date : 2006-05-11
|
Two vulnerabilities have been identified in Linux Kernel, which could be exploited by local attackers to cause a denial of service or disclose sensitive information.
The first issue is due to an error in the "lease_init()" [fs/locks.c] function that incorrectly frees unallocated memory when handling an invalid "arg" argument, which could be exploited by malicious users to crash a vulnerable system.
The second issue is due to an uninitialised return value in "__setlease()", which could cause a slab leak.
