Two vulnerabilities were identified in MPlayer, which could be exploited by remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands or cause a denial of service.

The first issue is due to an integer overflow error in the "new_demux_packet()" [libmpdemux/demuxer.h] function that fails to properly handle a specially crafted ".asf" file containing an overly large packet length value, which could be exploited by remote attackers to compromise a vulnerable system by convincing a user to open a malicious ASF file.

The second vulnerability is due to an integer overflow error in the "demux_asf_read_packet()" [libmpdemux/demux_asf.c] function that does not properly handle a malformed ".asf" file containing an overly large packet length value, which could be exploited by malicious web sites to execute arbitrary commands via a specially crafted ASF file.
