Title : Mod_auth_pgsql Module for Apache Multiple Format String Vulnerabilities VUPEN ID : VUPEN/ADV-2006-0070 CVE ID : CVE-2005-3656
Rated as : Critical
Remotely Exploitable : Yes Locally Exploitable : Yes Release Date : 2006-01-06
Technical Description
Multiple vulnerabilities were identified in mod_auth_pgsql for Apache2, which could be exploited by remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands. These flaws are due to format string errors in various logging functions (e.g. ap_log_rerror) that do not properly validate certain strings before being parsed, which could be exploited by unauthenticated remote attackers to compromise a vulnerable web server where mod_auth_pgsql is configured to perform user authentication against a PostgreSQL database.
