Rated as : High Risk
Remotely Exploitable : Yes Locally Exploitable : Yes Release Date : 2005-07-15
Technical Description
A vulnerability was identified in Winamp, which could be exploited by attackers to execute arbitrary commands. This flaw is due to a buffer overflow error when processing media files containing specially crafted ID3v2 tags (e.g. an overly long string in the "ARTIST" or "TITLE" fields), which could be exploited to compromise a vulnerable system by convincing a user to add a specially crafted MP3 file to a playlist and play it.
