Technical Description
Redhat has released updated packages to correct two vulnerabilities identified in XML_RPC and shtool. The first flaw is due to an input validation error in the XML_RPC library, which could be exploited via vulnerable scripts to execute arbitrary commands. The second issue resides in GNU shtool that creates temporary files insecurely, which could be exploited by malicious users to overwrite arbitrary files via symlink attacks.
